What is Mascot? How the Trading Card Platform Works (and Why Sellers Use It)

The first spreadsheet program for personal computers came out in 1979. Nearly 50 years later, plenty of trading card businesses still run on its descendants: one tab for inventory, one for cost basis, another for what's listed where—and a lot of hoping all three agree.
Mascot was built to bring selling collectibles into the 21st century.
What is Mascot?
Mascot is an inventory management and multi-channel selling platform for trading cards and other collectibles.
Many professional sellers, such as hobby shops, dealers, and breakers, quickly outgrew their spreadsheets, and need the reach of a wide variety of marketplaces. With Mascot, these sellers can add their cards by using our proprietary AI scanner, entering the grading company certification number, or uploading their CSV. As soon as their inventory is on Mascot, they can list them on 10+ sales channels, from eBay, Whatnot, and TikTok Shop, to Shopify and Mascot's own buyer network, all with the click of a button.
Once an item sells, Mascot automatically delists it everywhere else it was listed to ensure that each card only has a single buyer, preventing headaches in the process.
Launched in 2023, Mascot is led by founder and CEO Guinio Volpone, whose goal is to create an all-in-one platform that helps sellers track their inventory and sell it everywhere buyers are.
"Before Mascot, I spent years in ticket resale, where I learned that the seller who reaches the most buyers wins. When I got deeper into collecting, I saw that sellers in our hobby didn't have that same advantage. They were managing inventory in spreadsheets and listing one marketplace at a time, said Volpone. “I built Mascot to change that: to help collectors, dealers, card shops, and resellers organize their inventory and distribute it across the widest possible online footprint, so they can sell more, sell faster, and get full value for what they own."
While trading cards sit at Mascot’s core, the platform also handles comics, magazines, sealed trading card packs, ticket stubs, game-used and autographed memorabilia, sneakers, and trading card supplies like toploaders and magnetic holders.
How Does Mascot Work?
Now that you know what Mascot is, let’s dive deeper into how you can use it to better manage your collectibles inventory:
- Add your inventory. Graded cards come in by certification number, and Grading Company Sync pulls the card details (and high-resolution slab images, when available) from PSA, CGC, SGC, and MBA. Raw cards go through Mascot's AI scanner, either by phone or with a flatbed scanner that processes multiple cards per scan. Existing eBay and Whatnot listings, CSV files, and CGC submissions can be imported directly.
- Organize and price. Every item lives in one collection with custom tags, filters, bulk actions, SKUs, and printable barcodes. Pricing Rules set a start price, a floor price, and a markdown schedule, so stale listings can become more attractive on a set cadence—without dropping below your minimum. Sellers with a Vintage Card Prices account can also see recent VCP comps for PSA, BGS, SGC, and CGC slabs beside each item.
- List everywhere. Select your items, click "List Selected," choose your marketplaces , and confirm. Mascot publishes fixed-price listings across eBay, Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Whatnot, TikTok Shop, Temu, Shopify, Square, Loupe, MyCardPost, and MySlabs. It can also publish eBay auctions with staggered end times.
- Sell once, delist everywhere. When a card sells on one channel, Mascot pulls it from the rest automatically, preventing a double sale.
- Track your business. Orders land in a single Sales History page, with reporting on inventory, sales, costs, fees, and channel performance.
Unique Features:
In addition to Mascot’s cross-listing capabilities, there are two additional tools sellers will want to keep an eye on:
- Mascot Network is Mascot's own distribution channel. You list to it like any other marketplace, and Mascot sends the item to partner marketplaces and buyer pools without the need for additional seller accounts. The fee is 3% on network sales—a $100 card returns $97, compared with about $87 on higher-fee platforms. Mascot handles the buyer communication; the seller prints a prepaid label, ships, and gets paid two days after delivery.
- Mercury is a private B2B marketplace where verified Mascot Network sellers on Pro or Expert plans buy from one another, with offers handled inside Mascot instead of in DMs.
How Much Does Mascot Cost?
| Plan | Monthly price | Sales fee | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $4 | None | Selling on eBay and Mascot Network |
| Pro | From $99 | Lesser of 1.25% of sales or $1.25 per invoice | Multi-marketplace and live sellers |
| Expert | From $399 | Lesser of 1% of sales or $1 per invoice | Multi-store and high-volume operations |
Every plan includes unlimited inventory and unlimited AI scans, and new accounts start with a 30-day free trial. Multi-marketplace listing, live-selling channels, Shopify and Square storefronts, automatic markdowns, and Mercury access start at Pro. Full details can be found on the pricing page.
Why Should You Use Mascot?
- It ends the double sale. Cross-channel auto-delisting is the feature most sellers feel first, especially anyone running live shows on Whatnot or TikTok Shop while the same inventory sits on eBay.
- It puts inventory in front of more buyers. One listing reaches marketplaces, live-selling apps, and your own storefront, instead of one channel at a time.
- It lowers fees on part of your volume. Sales through Mascot Network carry a 3% fee.
- It speeds up intake. AI scans are unlimited on every plan. Competitors like Card Dealer Pro package scans as monthly credits.
- It scales with the operation. Multiple users, barcodes, reporting, and multi-store management are built in.
Don’t take it from us. Here’s what sellers using Mascot had to say about the platform:
- Noted collectibles expert Geoff Wilson of CardsHQ says Mascot has "truly become the leading inventory management system for the trading card hobby."
- Leighton Sheldon, President of Just Collect , the nation's largest buyer of vintage baseball cards, reports sales "up 519% since using Mascot."
